Nanaimo has become Tesla’s biggest Supercharger hub on Vancouver Island, with the mid-island city now home to three Supercharger stations.
The latest addition opened this week in the city’s north end at Northridge Village (5800 Turner Road) featuring eight V4 Supercharger posts capable of delivering up to 325 kW. Construction first began in April.
According to the website, Tesla owners pay $0.21/kWh during off-peak hours and $0.29/kWh from 8:00am until 10:00pm. The station is also open to non-Tesla EVs with a NACS adapter, with rates of $0.30/kWh off-peak and $0.40/kWh during the day.
Tesla Supercharger network on Vancouver Island expands
The opening comes as Tesla has significantly expanded its Supercharger network on Vancouver Island over the past several years.
After being home to a lone 72kW Urban Supercharger in Victoria for many years, Vancouver Island now has 9 Supercharger stations with a total of 96 stalls.
The most recent additions include stations that have unlocked travel to the northern part of the island in Courtenay and Campbell River. Tesla has also serviced the west side of the island with stations in Port Alberni and Tofino.
Tesla isn’t stopping there, with Ucluelet also on the company’s future plans after winning Supercharger Voting in Q4 2024. And in the latest round of Supercharger voting launched earlier this week, there are 7 Vancouver Island locations up for voting as far north as Port McNeill.
