Nanaimo is quickly emerging as a key hub for Tesla’s Supercharger network on Vancouver Island, with the city set to gain yet another fast-charging location.

A new Supercharger is now under construction in north Nanaimo at 5800 Turner Road, in the parking lot of Quality Foods near the A&W restaurant. This particular location has been in the works for a while, first appearing on Tesla’s planned Supercharger map on February 27, 2025, before being removed on May 9, 2025, and then reappearing again in June 2025.

According to a photo shared on the Tesla Owners Club Vancouver Island Facebook page, construction is still in the early stages with some groundwork and underground conduit already in place. While no equipment has been installed, the signature ‘Tesla Energy’ pallets with Supercharger equipment is already on site. Based on the area in the parking lot where the station will be located, it will likely be 12 stalls.

This will be the third Supercharger for the Nanaimo area, bringing the total number of Supercharger stations on Vancouver Island to eight. The other two Nanaimo Superchargers are located at 3200 N Island Hwy, a site that was the first V3 station on the island, and at Woodgrove Center, which was the very first Supercharger station on Vancouver Island.

Tesla has also been hard at work in recent months expanding their charging infrastructure for drivers heading further north on Vancouver Island. With a recently opened Supercharger in Comox and another site waiting to be turned on in Campbell River, Tesla is finally building out a reliable fast-charging corridor that extends well beyond Nanaimo.
