Volkswagen sets a date for the Microbus reveal

After nearly five years of rumours, hints and buzz, Volkswagen will unveil the ID Buzz on March 9.

Herbert Diess, the Volkswagen CEO, tweeted the news and a rendering of the Microbus in a GIF.

Originally, VW was only going to present the concept Microbus and put the idea to bed.

However, after an outpouring of positive feedback, the company decided to greenlight the concept for production.

The vehicle is a clear homage to the iconic VW bus sold between 1950-1980.

However, we do not know that many details on the upcoming EV. We do not know the expected range, battery size, or estimated price.

However, we know that the vehicle will be manufactured on VW’s modular electric vehicle platform. We also know that the bus will serve as a platform for a full-scale commercial ride-hailing and delivery operation that launches in Germany in 2025.

We should note that we are not sure that the ID Buzz will keep the name. It was a cute concept car name, but not sure it will fly at the dealership level. However, all will be revealed in early March!
