Tesla Model 3 is the 16th bestselling car in the world

2020 was a bumper year for electric vehicles (EVs), but the standalone winner in this category is the Tesla Model 3.

According to data from Focus2Move, the Model 3 is now the 16th bestselling car in the world in 2020.

The Model 3 sold 439,760 units in 2020. Since its launch in 2018, the Model 3 is now the bestselling EV of all time, with more than 800,000 units sold.

In comparison, the Nissan Leaf, which has been in the market seven years longer than the Model 3, just hit 500,000 last year.

The top-selling car in 2020 was the Toyota Corolla, with 1,134,262 global units sold. The second spot was the Toyota Rav 4, while Ford’s F-Series rounded out the top three.

However, this will most likely not be a one and done top 20 showings by Tesla. Model Y is poised to be the next model in the top 20. Many predict that once the Model Y releases in Europe in 2022, the Model Y will overtake the Model 3 in global units sold.
