After years of complaints from the boating community that the Starlink Maritime plans were pricing them out of the service, it seems like Starlink has listened.
Per user reports, Starlink appears to have listened to the boating community and is launching a Personal Maritime plan for $185 USD per month, with targeted emails going out to some boat owners.
For $185 per month, you will have access to unlimited data and use in territorial waters, no 30-day Roam international travel limit and access to Ocean Mode, which will provide data for $6 per GB.
If you are on the Roam plan and want to keep it, you can also add Ocean Mode for when you are outside of territorial waters for $6 per day.
The Personal Maritime Plan is designed for small personal vessels, and Starlink will require some information to sign you up to ensure yachts or commercially operated vessels are not added to the plan.
When you want to make the switch, you will need to create a ticket with Starlink support and include the following information:
- Vessel Name
- Flag State
- Length Overall (LOA)
- A Unique ID (This could be a Hull Identification Number, Craft Identification Number, NMSI or ITU Call Sign)
- A copy of your vessel’s Registration Certificate
