SpaceX is celebrating another milestone as it reports on the 12 million subscribers. The satellite internet provider gained nearly 2 million customers in Q2 2026.
According to figures published by SpaceX, Starlink users have surpassed 12 million, easily doubling the subscriber base in less than a year. The growth comes despite the company raising prices and ending promotions in the same quarter.
The last time SpaceX provided an update on Starlink customers was Q1, when it had 10 million subscribers.
In terms of earnings, Starlink generated $4.3 billion as more customers got on board. This represented a 66 percent rise year-on-year and 32 percent quarter-on-quarter. Average revenue per subscriber stood at $66 per month, a drop from $85 a year ago.
Individual users formed the majority of Starlink revenues, accounting for 58 percent of all income. Profit stood at $1.66 billion, up from $1.19 billion year-on-year.
SpaceX is not sitting on its laurels. The space exploration company spent $294 million on research and development in the quarter, launching the first V3 satellites on a test Starship flight last month. These test units blew up upon re-entry in less than 30 minutes. However, SpaceX reported that the prototypes communicated successfully with ground stations and sent crucial telemetry data.
SpaceX will send more V3 satellites to space on Starship test flight number 14 to operational orbit. When operational, the satellites promise about ten times V2 download speeds.
Starlink competitors are feeling the heat. Legacy satellite internet company HughesNet recently filed for bankruptcy after losing nearly one million customers.
