Tesla is expanding its footprint in Texas with a new Service and Delivery Center in Grand Prairie, but city documents indicate the facility will play a large role in the company’s Robotaxi plans.
According to city records highlighted by Spencer (@scotsrule08), who recently completed a fully autonomous FSD trip across Canada, Tesla is constructing a new 51,000 square foot facility in Grand Prairie.
The development sits on a 7.7-acre parcel at 1375 East Interstate 20 and will include a large service building, delivery operations, charging infrastructure, and extensive parking areas. Site plans show more than 400 vehicle storage spaces, 64 parking stalls surrounding the main building, and dedicated charging stations throughout the property.
While the project is officially described as an electric vehicle service and delivery center, approved planning documents reveal the site will also support Tesla-owned autonomous vehicles.
More Than Just a Service and Delivery Center
Language buried within the city’s Special Use Permit (SUP) amendment reveal the automaker intends to also “utilize this location for charging, cleaning, repair, and general maintenance of Tesla-owned autonomous vehicles.”
The approved operational plan further states that accessory uses at the site are permitted for the cleaning, servicing, and charging of autonomous vehicles for hire.
Robotaxi Operations Not Permitted On Site
Importantly, the documents also specify that Robotaxi operations themselves will not take place from this location. Grand Prairie city officials added a condition to the original approval in October 2025 prohibiting autonomous ride-hailing activity at the site.
Instead, the facility will function as a support hub where vehicles can be stored, charged, cleaned, repaired, and maintained before returning to service elsewhere.
Part of a Growing Robotaxi Infrastructure Network
This facility in Grand Prairie aligns with other Tesla projects emerging across the United States. As we recently reported, permit filings in Las Vegas revealed Tesla is constructing a dedicated Cybercab maintenance and car wash facility capable of supporting hundreds of autonomous vehicles.
Elsewhere in Texas, Tesla is also building a 35,049 square foot facility in Irving in which zoning documents also reference the “storage, service and repair of an autonomous vehicle fleet.” suggesting it is being designed as another support hub for future Robotaxi operations. That facility will include 212 dedicated fleet parking spaces, plus an additional 64 stalls around the main building, including 16 EV charging stations, giving it the capacity to support a sizeable autonomous vehicle fleet.
The company has also submitted plans for a private robotaxi-only Supercharger in Arizona.
