Tesla has launched Coastal Blue for the Model Y in Europe, adding a new premium paint option that is, for now, exclusive to the entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant. The colour joins several other blue shades that have recently been added to Tesla’s lineup around the world.
The addition means Tesla now offers four distinct blue paint colours globally: Coastal Blue, Glacier Blue, Frost Blue, and Marine Blue, although not every colour is available in every market or on every vehicle.
According to an announcement from Tesla Europe, Middle East & Africa, the new Coastal Blue colour is now available to order across Europe.
A New Premium Colour
Coastal Blue is being offered as one of Tesla’s premium paint options in Europe, carrying a price tag of €1,300. Based on Tesla’s online configurator, the colour currently appears to be limited to the entry-level Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant.
Visually, Coastal Blue sits somewhere between the darker Marine Blue and the lighter Glacier Blue. It features a brighter, more vibrant appearance than Tesla’s traditional blue shades and gives the Model Y a noticeably different look compared to the more conservative Deep Blue Metallic that served as Tesla’s primary blue paint option for years.

Tesla’s Expanding Colour Strategy
Tesla’s paint offerings have evolved considerably over the last few years. Historically, customers often criticized the company for having a limited selection of exterior colours, especially compared to traditional automakers.
That has changed as Tesla’s factories have gained more advanced paint capabilities. Giga Berlin, in particular, has become known for producing unique paint colours not available elsewhere, including Quicksilver, Midnight Cherry Red (unfortunately discontinued), and now several blue variants.
The arrival of Coastal Blue comes shortly after Tesla retired Deep Blue Metallic in several markets replaced by Marine Blue. Tesla also recently added Frost Blue for Performance trims after the Model S and Model X were discontinued.
The only question now is whether Coastal Blue will eventually make its way to North America, which based on previous experience, most certainly will.
