The Tesla Model Y has emerged as the best-selling car in the Netherlands. The electric SUV outsold even fossil-fueled models from popular brands.
Tesla Europe has posted about another triumph for the Model Y on X. The EV dominated the Dutch auto market in the first half of 2026. Car buyers registered 4,317 units, according to data shared by BOVAG, a major Dutch automotive industry association. This represented a market share of 2.5 percent.

In the electric segment, the Model Y accounted for 6.8 percent of registrations. It was followed by the Kia EV3 with 2,841 units and a market share of 4.5 percent. The Skoda Elroq came third with 2,599 registrations, or about 4.1 percent. Tesla’s Model 3 rounded off the top 5 with 2,234 units.
In all, Tesla sold 6,551 cars in the Netherlands in the first six months of 2026.
The electric vehicle market dipped slightly year-on-year, dropping from 63,821 to 63,776. However, its share of sales climbed 1.5 points to 36.5 percent.
June was a brilliant month for EVs, as 17,257 units found new homes, accounting for 44 percent of total automobile sales. This was a 42 percent increase over June 2025, when sales stood at 12,135.
The Model Y is the model to beat in other European countries. It sold 1,588 in Switzerland, doubling year-on-year sales in June. The story was similar in France, where the SUV recorded 6,635 deliveries.
Outside Europe, the Model Y topped the charts in Australia and New Zealand. It was also the best-selling vehicle in Colombia and China.
