Tesla’s hoped-for October vote on EU-wide approval of Full Self-Driving (FSD) is no longer on the agenda. The European Commission’s draft agenda for the October 6 meeting gives the Netherlands’ request a 25-minute discussion slot, but does not list a vote.
That pushes a decision to December at the earliest, assuming the matter is brought forward at a later meeting. However, the October agenda is still a draft, so it could still change.
The delay is disappointing for Tesla owners across Europe who hoped to use FSD this fall. The Netherlands approved FSD in April, and several other countries have since allowed its use. EU-wide approval, however, still requires a vote.
Tesla had pointed to October 6 as a possible date for the wider vote. The new agenda instead describes the item as a “continuation of discussions” on the Dutch request for authorization under Article 39. It offers no explanation for why a vote is absent or a confirmed date for one.
Regulators have been examining how the system handles issues such as speed limits and driver attention. France began its own on-road testing in September after it said it would not approve the system in its current form. That work gives the committee more to discuss, though the agenda does not say whether it caused the delay.
