Slovakia has officially approved Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system, joining the growing list of European Union countries to allow the advanced driver-assistance technology on public roads.
The country’s Ministry of Transport confirmed the decision on October 16, formally recognizing the provisional approval granted by Dutch regulator RDW in April. The move clears the regulatory hurdle for Tesla owners in Slovakia to begin using FSD, although Tesla has not confirmed when the software will become available.
The announcement comes just over a week after we reported that Slovakia was preparing to approve FSD. Transport Minister Jozef Ráž said at the time that the final paperwork was nearly complete.

Slovakia now joins the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovenia, Czechia, and Croatia in recognizing FSD. The approvals have been made possible by the Netherlands’ April 10 approval, which allows individual EU member states to recognize the system on their own territory while EU-wide approval is still pending.
In its announcement, Slovakia’s Transport Ministry highlighted FSD’s ability to navigate city streets and highways, including handling intersections, lane changes, traffic signals, acceleration, and braking.
Ráž also emphasized that the technology does not remove the driver’s responsibility. FSD remains a supervised system, requiring drivers to remain attentive and ready to intervene. According to the ministry, the system constantly monitors the driver’s attention, warning inattentive drivers and switching off if necessary.
The latest approval comes as Tesla continues pushing for broader European authorization. As previously reported, an EU-wide decision is now expected in December after regulators continued discussions rather than holding a vote earlier this month.
