Mercedes-Benz has opened its Canadian configurator for the all-new 2027 GLC Electric, giving buyers their first opportunity to build and price the luxury electric SUV, following the Electric CLA’s Canadian launch earlier this year.

The GLC 400 4MATIC Electric launches with a starting starting price of $78,400, rising to $84,491 once fees and levies are included, according to the online configurator.

The electric GLC enters a competitive segment that includes the Tesla Model Y, BMW iX3, and Audi Q6 e-tron, offering impressive performance, fast charging, and a technology-heavy interior.

Unlike Mercedes-Benz’s earlier EQ-branded electric SUVs, the new GLC Electric adopts a familiar nameplate as the automaker moves toward offering electric and combustion-powered versions of its popular models.

At launch, Canadian buyers get a single model, the GLC 400 4MATIC Electric, with all-wheel drive producing a combined 483 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes-Benz claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.

Power comes from a 94 kWh usable battery, with an estimated driving range of 568 km to 715 km, according to Empty Tank. Official Natural Resources Canada range figures have not yet been released.

The GLC’s 800-volt architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 330 kW, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 22 minutes. Charging at 400-volt stations is limited to 100 kW.

Inside, buyers can add the massive 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen for $1,800, although it requires the $2,300 Exclusive Trim. Other options include AMG styling, massaging front seats, and a Burmester sound system.

The SUV also offers up to 1,740 litres of cargo space, according to Driving.ca, and a 2,400 kg towing capacity.

Additional GLC Electric variants are expected to follow.
