Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) is about to become more personalized. According to CEO Elon Musk, an upcoming software update will allow Tesla vehicles to remember individual driver preferences, reducing the need for owners to repeatedly correct the system in familiar situations.
The new capability was revealed in response to Tesla owner Owen Sparks on X, who highlighted a different type of personalization issue. Sparks explained that after relying heavily on FSD, his driver profile had gradually become less suitable for manual driving.
“My driver profile should be DELETED.
I realized that the more I use FSD, the further back my seat has gone into a lounging position, not great for actual driving when I need to re-park.
So, I set a manual driving profile that pushes my seat up and steering wheel closer. Hopefully just a temporary solution until Tesla nails unique parking scenarios. I want to manually park my car once and have it remember that exact spot every single time.”
Musk responded with a brief but significant update on Tesla’s software roadmap.

The comment expands on a similar promise Musk made just days earlier when discussing lane selection. At the time, he said Tesla’s FSD would begin learning from the driver’s manual interventions, allowing it to adapt to each owner’s preferences instead of repeating the same behavior on every trip.

Musk first hinted at another major personalization feature just last month, revealing that FSD will also learn drivers’ preferred parking locations at destinations they visit regularly. According to Musk, the system will eventually remember where you like to park at places such as home, work, or school, whether that’s a specific driveway, parking stall, or drop-off area.
Musk did not provide a release date for when these new features will be deployed to the fleet. However, he said in June the ability to use Grok to give FSD voice instructions would arrive “in about 3 months or so,” making it possible Tesla could bundle these related personalization features into a single software update that could arrive in the fall.
