Just as workers wind up construction of phase 2 at Giga Shanghai, the latest numbers from China show a small increase in sales compared to the previous month.
According to figures reported by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Tesla sold 11,800 made-in-China Model 3’s in August. That number is up from the 11,014 units sold in July, but down from the all-time high of 14,954 units in June 2020.

Those numbers are expected to increase as the Model Y production line at Giga Shanghai should be complete and up and running later this year, with the first deliveries scheduled for early next year.
