Tesla achieved record quarterly vehicle deliveries in Canada in Q3 2026, according to its Q3 2026 earnings report, as CEO Elon Musk set a goal of building roughly 5 million vehicles annually toward the end of the decade.
In its Q3 2026 Update, Tesla listed Canada alongside Australia, Japan and Taiwan among the markets where it set quarterly delivery records.
Tesla did not disclose specific Canadian delivery figures, but the record was likely thanks to the massively popular Model 3 Premium Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), which starts under $40,000, and the Model Y RWD, which is eligible for the $5,000 EVAP rebate.
The Model 3 was so popular the federal government capped Tesla’s import quota from China until at least March 2027.
Globally, Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles between July and September. Tesla ended Q2 with its largest order backlog since 2023, and says it ended Q3 with the largest backlog for its passenger vehicles in four years.
During Wednesday’s earnings call, Musk said Tesla is preparing for a major increase in factory capacity, aiming for roughly 5 million vehicles annually by about 2030, and that he believes the company has a strong chance of getting there.
Musk also said demand is very strong, pointing to Full Self-Driving (FSD) as the biggest driver, and said the company is building and handing over every car it can. He also said he expects the company’s gross margins to rise significantly after staying fairly flat for several years.
However, Tesla says battery supply is still the main constraint on raising vehicle output, though it reports further progress on locking in future cell supply.
Giga Berlin set a production record in the quarter, according to Tesla, and the call noted that the company has filed permit applications to grow the German plant, where it plans a second production hall.
The Q3 letter also notes Tesla produced and delivered its 10 millionth vehicle, a milestone that follows the company reaching 10 million vehicles built in July.
With Tesla targeting substantially higher production volumes, the next challenge will be securing enough batteries and manufacturing capacity to turn its growing backlog into deliveries.
