Construction underway on the Saskatoon Tesla Supercharger

Tesla’s Supercharger expansion continues across Canada, most recently with a new build underway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

A 6-stall Supercharger has been confirmed under construction by the local owners club: a photo was posted showing work being done at what should be the Saskatoon South SmartCentres. The address was never stated in the post, but it has been public knowledge since Tesla received public funding to build multiple West Canadian Superchargers, including this location.

This location is part of an recurring partnership between Tesla and SmartCentres. In 2017, Tesla opened their first locations as part of the partnership in Mascouche, Sudbury, Cambridge, Barrie and Owen Sound.

SmartCentres then went quiet for a few years, and now they’re back with a handful of new locations in the works right now: Vernon (construction), Quesnel (construction), Brockville (planning) and Saskatoon now underway.

This is the first Saskatchewanian Supercharger to begin construction in 2021. The discovery comes just over a day after Tesla equipment was spotted in Jasper, making it Alberta’s first Supercharger to begin work this year.

More locations are expected to see construction start soon along the Yellowhead in the following months (North Battleford, Lloydminster, Vegreville).
