Starlink hardware rentals now available in 18 countries

SpaceX has been offering customers in the UK and Ireland the option to rent their Starlink hardware instead of purchasing it since earlier this month. The offer was expanded to New Zealand last week, and now the list of countries has grown significantly.

According to an update to the Starlink support page last night, customers in 18 different countries can now rent Starlink hardware for as little as €15 per month. In addition to the UK, Ireland, and New Zealand, the offer has been expanded to 15 more European countries, including:

  • Germany
  • France
  • Italy
  • Switzerland
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Czech Republic
  • Estonia
  • Greece
  • Netherlands
  • Portugal
  • Spain
  • Isle of Man
  • Guernsey
  • Jersey

In addition to the rental option, SpaceX is also discounting the hardware if you want to purchase it outright. Instead of paying the full €450 in countries like Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands, you can pay €300 for a limited time. (via @starlinkinsider)

The price of the monthly subscription has not changed in the countries listed above.

As before the rental option is only available for the fixed Residential service, and is not available for Business, Maritime, Mobile or Roam Services. According to the terms of the deal the rental contract is month-to-month and can be cancelled at any time. If you do cancel you are required to return the Starlink hardware to SpaceX “in good condition” within 30 days, or you will be charged the full price to purchase it.

SpaceX is also offering a hardware discount in Canada at the moment, but there is unfortunately no rental option yet.
