SpaceX has officially completed its acquisition of Cursor, finalizing the $60 billion deal just months after the two companies first announced their AI partnership.
Cursor confirmed the transaction on Friday, saying it is now part of SpaceX and will join the SpaceXAI team. The acquisition was completed entirely in stock, making Cursor a wholly owned subsidiary of SpaceX.

The acquisition brings to a close a process that began in April, when SpaceX announced it was working with Cursor to develop advanced AI models for coding and other knowledge-based work. That initial agreement included an unusual provision giving SpaceX the option to acquire Cursor for $60 billion or pay the company $10 billion for their joint work.
SpaceX exercised that acquisition option earlier this month, announcing an all-stock deal and revealing the companies had already spent several months jointly training a new AI model.
Cursor’s technology will now play a broader role across SpaceX’s growing AI ecosystem. In addition to continuing development of the Cursor coding platform, its team will work on Grok, Grok Build, Grok Bot and the Grok API.
The deal also comes as SpaceX rapidly expands its presence in the AI industry following its blockbuster IPO. The company has turned its massive Colossus computing infrastructure into a commercial business, signing multibillion-dollar compute agreements with Google, Anthropic and Reflection AI.
