Anthropic has reached an agreement with SpaceX, which will allow the company to access more than 300 MW of computing capacity at the Coloussus 1 data centre.
The deal will see Anthropic use 100% of the new data centers’ capacity and could lead to the two companies becoming space-based data partners in the future. However, they did not confirm the details on those future endeavours.
For Anthropic, the deal will allow the company to expand capacity for users of its Claude Pro and Claude Max services.
The move is a little strange for those who have followed the AI wars between Musk, Google, and Anthropic, and know that Musk has taken his fair share of shots at the company.
However, it appears that Musk and the Anthropic leadership team have mended fences as he posted on X:
Everyone I met was highly competent and cared a great deal about doing the right thing. No one set off my evil detector. So long as they engage in critical self-examination, Claude will probably be good.
This deal with SpaceX is one of a few that Anthropic has inked to secure and increase its capacity over the past several months. A few weeks ago, the company signed a multi-billion-dollar deal with Amazon that will see it spend more than $100 billion on Amazon Web Services over the next decade.
