Starting September 15, Korean Air will offer free Starlink internet service to all passengers on select medium- and long-haul flights.
The Korean-based airline retrofitted four widebody aircraft (Three Airbus A350-900s and a Boeing 777-300ER) with Starlink receivers, and each is re-entering service next week with Starlink on board and ready to run.
These four aircraft serve the Americas, Europe and Southeast Asia from the company’s home base, Incheon International Airport near Seoul, South Korea.
Korean Air plans to progressively expand Starlink services across its fleet, with the rollout schedule completed by the end of 2027.
To make this happen, the company will complete the Starlink installation during routine annual and mid-life service and maintenance to streamline aircraft planning while also allowing a gradual rollout across its large fleet.
On Korean Air, Starlink will be complimentary for passengers and support HD video and music streaming, online gaming, cloud-based applications, and web browsing, making it usable for work and entertainment on the flight.
Korean Air has confirmed they are restricting voice and video calls to maintain a comfortable cabin environment for all passengers.
For those who are on an aircraft that has not undergone the retrofit, passengers will have access to their existing paid in-flight Wi-Fi service.
