Tesla’s massive Oasis Supercharger in Lost Hills, California, faced one of its busiest tests yet over the Labor Day long weekend, and handled the holiday rush without a single charging queue.
According to Tesla Charging, drivers completed 6,038 charging sessions across the site’s 164 stalls over four days. That works out to more than 1,500 sessions per day, or an average of 9.2 sessions per stall over the long weekend. Traffic peaked on Labor Day, when each stall averaged 11.2 sessions, yet Tesla reported “zero waiters.”
At the busiest point of the weekend, 116 vehicles were plugged in simultaneously, drawing a combined 11.4 megawatts (MW) of power. Max de Zegher, Tesla’s Director of Charging for North America, shared the figure on X, adding, “All electrical loads will eventually transition to solar + storage. The giant fusion reactor in the sky is free.”

The site’s solar installation generated 7 MW of power during the holiday, helping support thousands of charging stops along Interstate 5, one of California’s busiest travel corridors.
Tesla partially opened Oasis in July 2025 with 84 stalls before completing the full 164-stall facility later that year. The final layout includes 12 pull-through stalls for vehicles towing trailers, along with restrooms, a driver lounge and outdoor seating areas.
Oasis is designed as a majority off-grid charging station, pairing an 11 MW solar farm with 10 Tesla Megapacks. The battery system can store a combined 39 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy, allowing electricity collected during the day to continue powering chargers after sunset or during periods of heavy demand.
