Volkswagen ID.4 spotted testing in Toronto [Photos]

Even though Volkswagen’s highly anticipated ID.4 electric SUV isn’t expected to arrive in Canada until the middle of next year, it looks like the automaker is using the streets of Toronto as a testing ground.

Spotted over the weekend by Henry T, the test vehicle is the same signature blue that has been used so far to showcase the electric SUV in promotional materials.  After pulling up behind the ID.4, Henry decided to follow it to see if he could get a closer look at it. Fortunately the VW employee who was driving the EV was nice enough to give him a detailed look at the interior and exterior.

According to Henry, this was a fully spec’d out ID.4 with the pano-roof and upgraded 20″ wheels.

The VW ID.4 was only unveiled to the world in late September with a livestream event on YouTube. Calling it the most important new vehicle they have released in a number of years, it is expected to provide some solid competition to the Tesla Model Y.

It is set to be released in the US in late December or early next year, at which time Canadian pricing will be announced. For US buyers, the ID.4 starts at $39,995 USD ($52,400 CAD), before the $7,500 federal tax credit.

If that pricing holds up for Canada, it should also be eligible for our $5,000 federal iZEV rebate.
