Tesla to cut prices in Hong Kong this weekend

Tesla has lowered their prices in many markets around the world this year, the most recent price cuts coming earlier this month in Canada and the US. Tesla isn’t stopping and has announced more price cuts will be coming this weekend, this time in Hong Kong.

According to Hong Kong media outlet hket, the price drops will take effect on Saturday, April 15. The biggest price drop will go to the Model 3 Performance, which will see its price drop 15% to $440,335 HKD (~$75,300 CAD). The next biggest price drop will be for the Model 3 Long Range, going down 11.06% to $399,485 HKD (~$68,300 CAD).

Finally the Model Y Long Range and Performance variants will also see price reductions, dropping 8.71% to $459,685 (~$78,600 CAD) and 9.03% to $487,205 HKD (~$83,300 CAD) respectively.

The entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variants of both the Model 3 and Model Y will remain the same at $341,200 (~$58,300 CAD) and $367,100 (~$62,800 CAD) respectively.

The upcoming price cuts will certainly drive more sales in a country whose EV segment is already dominated by Tesla. According to data from Hong Kong’s Transport Department a total of 8,454 EVs were registered in the country from January to November 2022. Of those, a whopping 85% (7,252) were Tesla vehicles.
