Tesla Waives Supercharger Fees After Pricing Error Impacts Atlantic Canada

Tesla owners in Atlantic Canada received some welcome news after a pricing error briefly caused a dramatic increase in Supercharger fees.

Drivers noticed the issue after the Tesla app began displaying unusually high per-minute charging fees at Supercharger locations in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. Screenshots shared online by Marco showed rates as high as $6.00 per minute for charging between 180-250 kW at the Charlottetown, PEI Supercharger.

That is more than three times the normal top-tier rate of $1.85 per minute.

The incorrect pricing appears to have been active since July 2, leading some owners to question whether Tesla had quietly implemented a major price hike across the region.

Tesla quickly confirmed that wasn’t the case. Responding to the concerns on X, Tesla Charging acknowledged the issue, saying, “Correct pricing will be going live at midnight tonight. All fees since July 2nd 2026 will be waived.”

The response means affected owners won’t have to worry about disputing charges or requesting refunds manually. Tesla says any charging sessions billed using the incorrect rates will be fully waived.

Not long after Tesla’s confirmation, the issue was resolved. Updated screenshots from the Tesla app showed charging fees had returned to their expected levels, including $0.35 per minute for charging below 60 kW and $1.85 per minute for charging between 180-250 kW at the Charlottetown Supercharger.

While the pricing error lasted for nearly two weeks, Tesla’s decision to waive all affected charging fees should provide reassurance to owners who may have been worried about unexpectedly expensive Supercharging sessions.
