SpaceX expands 50% Starlink discount to residents near Starbase

SpaceX is expanding its discounted Starlink program to another community with close ties to the company, this time offering residents around Starbase, Texas, 50% off their monthly service.

The new Cameron County Area Discount applies to Starlink Residential plans for both new and existing customers at eligible addresses in Cameron County, home to SpaceX’s headquarters and Starbase.

SpaceX announced the program on Monday, saying the Rio Grande Valley is also home to thousands of its employees and their families.

The Cameron County offer follows a nearly identical program introduced last month in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, where SpaceX is developing its new Starbase Louisiana facility.

Like the Louisiana program, eligible Cameron County customers receive half off the standard monthly cost of Starlink Residential service. New customers also have no upfront hardware cost for a Residential Starlink kit.

Existing subscribers don’t need to apply for the lower rate. Starlink says the discount will automatically appear on their next bill as long as their service address falls within the eligible zone shown in the map above.

Cameron County is now at least the third area where SpaceX has offered this type of localized Starlink pricing. Along with Vermilion Parish, the company previously introduced a 50% discount for residents living near its operations in Memphis, Tennessee. That offer attracted over 2,000 new customers.
