Plans submitted for Tesla Supercharger in Chino Hills, California

First appearing on the Tesla Supercharger map in 2018 with a targeted opening date of 2019, the Supercharger in Chino Hills, California has been a long time coming.

In August 2019, a Tesla representative approached the city about the new Supercharger, and was told the large footprint of the site would require the removal of parking spaces. That appeared to be a dealbreaker as nothing has happened since then to the proposed site at The Shoppes at Chino Hills mall.

Tesla owners in the area can now breathe a sigh of relief as Tesla has finally submitted plans to convert 17 parking spaces into 16 electric vehicle spaces and one handicapped space, reports Chino Champion.

Approval of the plans, which were submitted on August 14, could come quickly as California Bill 1236 states officials must approve it after only reviewing whether “whether it meets all health and safety requirements of local, state, and federal law.

The needs for extra Superchargers in the Los Angeles area is well known, as there are often lines of cars waiting for a charge at many of the existing locations.
