Tesla’s Robotaxi service has expanded to its fourth city in the United States, with the company officially launching its unsupervised ride-hailing service in Miami, Florida.
The launch was confirmed on Friday by Tesla’s official Robotaxi account on X with a simple message asking, “What’s up Miami?” and “Robotaxi now available in Miami.”
Any questions about whether the service would launch with safety operators onboard were quickly answered by Tesla’s head of AI and Autopilot, Ashok Elluswamy, who responded to the announcement with, “Try it out if you are in Miami,” later confirming the rides are fully unsupervised.

The expansion makes Miami the fourth city, and Florida the first state outside of Texas, to offer Tesla’s fully autonomous Robotaxi service. The unsupervised service also operates in Austin, Dallas, and Houston. Unlike the company’s early deployments in Austin, which initially relied on safety operators in either the driver’s seat or front passenger seat, Miami launches from day one without human supervision inside the vehicle.
According to the geofence in the Robotaxi app, the service covers a large section of western Miami, stretching from areas near Doral in the north through West Miami and south toward Coral Gables.
The Florida launch has been on Tesla’s roadmap for some time. During Tesla’s Q3 2025 earnings call, CEO Elon Musk said the company expected to expand Robotaxi operations into additional states, specifically identifying Florida as one of the next major markets for the service.
That expansion strategy was confirmed during Tesla’s 2025 Annual Shareholder Meeting when the company listed Miami among the first wave of expansion cities alongside Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, and Las Vegas. The target date to launch in those cities was initially the first half of 2026, before later being revised to “preparations underway” in the company’s shareholder materials.
With Miami online, the question now becomes how quickly Tesla will be able to expand to the remaining cities previously identified for expansion, including Phoenix, Orlando, Tampa, and Las Vegas.
