Tesla expansion into Mexico looks to be imminent

After weeks of speculation, it looks like we are close to finally knowing Tesla’s plans in Mexico.

Per Yahoo Finance, Tesla has chosen a location in Mexico to expand its operations.

Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebard confirmed that Elon Musk and President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador would speak in the coming days. The date of that call will be given later this afternoon.

However, Minister Ebard declined to specify the location for Tesla’s Mexico expansion.

We are still not sure if the plans will be near Mexico City, outside Monterrey or some other location. However, more details should emerge later this afternoon or into next week.

On the Mexico City front, the new plant could be in a new business hub project in the capital that is near the new Felipe Angeles International Airport. While in Monterey, according to local reports, Tesla is interested in a location in Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leon.

Tesla has not commented on the rumours or any stories about expanding into Mexico.
