Tesla China scraps three June online hiring events

Tesla China has cancelled three upcoming recruitment events in China.

The three hiring events were scheduled for June 16, 23 and 30. Tesla was looking to fill specific roles in sales, research and development and supply chain.

Although Tesla China did not provide a reason, it could be a combination of dealing with overstaffing in some areas and yet another shutdown coming to Shanghai this weekend.

Shanghai officials announced that several districts are on high alert, while others are undergoing mass testing and will be under lockdown as they wait for results. (via CNBC)

It is unclear if the June 9 recruitment event for smart manufacturing went ahead.

Tesla China still has over 1,000 openings in Giga Shanghai and the company is still accepting resumes for positions such as aerodynamic engineers, supply chain managers, factory supervisors and factory workers.

Elon Musk sent an email to Tesla on Friday noting that Tesla would reduce its salaried headcount by a tenth. As per Musk, the reason for this is because the company has become overstaffed in many areas.

However, Musk stated that they would add to the hourly headcount as the company continues to ramp up production at the newly opened Giga Texas and Giga Berlin

Tesla China did not comment on the cancellations or the reason for the cancellations.
