Natural Resources Canada raising awareness on ZEV in Ontario

The Minister of Natural Resources Yasir Naqvi and Ya’ara Saks, the MP for York Centre in Toronto, announced an investment of over $500,000 to two organizations to support zero-emission vehicle awareness projects in and around Ontario.

EnviroCentre received a $283,500 investment in developing and launching an EV Test Drive Concierge Service. The service will arrange test drives in Ottawa for those interested in testing out the vehicle.

On top of that, the group will provide information, the available incentives, cost-analysis, comparison and environmental benefits.

Plug’n Drive received a $225,000 investment to create and deliver crucial webinars across Ontario. In addition, the company will provide in-person test drive opportunities for ride-sharing and the delivery segments in the province.

In addition, the group will help potential EV drivers understand their total cost of ownership and provide them with the tools to help make the switch.

Natural Resources Canada is funding both projects through the Zero-Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative. The initiative supports projects aiming to increase awareness, knowledge and public confidence in EVs.

In addition, the initiative also funds public charging and refuelling infrastructure.

Since 2015, investments by the Government of Canada total $1 billion in Canada to help the adoption of EVs across the country.
