Lucid to launch in Europe in 2022; Timing still to come

Lucid is planning to launch their cars in Europe this year. The company announced the expansion on Tuesday after a Twitter user asked on a Lucid tweet if the vehicles are in the United Kingdom.

The company tweeted that “expansion to European markets will begin this year. Stay tuned for country-specific delivery information.”

Lucid started deliveries of their flagship Lucid Air Dream Edition back in October to clients in the United States.

The plans for European expansion were always there for the California-based automaker. The company started taking online reservations for the Lucid Air in January 2020 for 15 European nations.

Locations included: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

In July, Lucid told investors that they plan to produce 20,000 Lucid Air sedans in 2022. The automaker reportedly had 17,000 reservations for the Air as of November. They did not say how many were in the United States or other markets. Lucid also confirmed that production plans for 2022 were still on track.

However, it is unclear if the company is looking to ramp up production for the planned European launch.

Lucid did not provide an official statement or a follow-up to its Tweet yet.
