Tesla’s long-awaited Automations app appears to be getting closer to release, with a new video offering the clearest look yet at how owners will be able to customize their vehicles.
The feature was first reported by Drive Tesla earlier this year in software update 2025.45.32.1 in China, but has yet to make its way to North America. Now, a new demonstration suggests Tesla has continued developing the app behind the scenes.
The video, shared on X by X user Maciej P. Wilczyński (@maciej), with help from @CoilShift in enabling the feature, shows a seemingly complete interface hidden behind a feature flag in recent firmware versions.
The Automations app uses “if this, then that” logic, allowing owners to create personalized routines based on specific triggers, conditions, and actions.
For example, drivers could set climate presets, activate child locks using a voice command, or hear an in-car spoken announcement when shifting gears.
The interface offers an extensive list of triggers, including time of day, sunrise and sunset, outside temperature, seat occupancy, seatbelts, doors, driving status, and charging activity.
Owners can also add conditions before an action is performed, providing another level of customization.
Available actions span several vehicle systems, including climate controls, seat heating and cooling, navigation, media, lighting, windows, and charging.
The demonstration even shows a custom automation that activates child locks and window locks when the driver says “Child Mode.”
As we previously reported, Tesla’s Automations app had been expected to arrive in North America as part of the 2026 Spring Update. However, despite some features from the Chinese update, such as Dashcam improvements, arriving elsewhere, Automations was noticeably absent.
The latest discovery suggests the feature is much further along in development, although Tesla has not confirmed when it will become available to owners.
It also remains unclear whether all the demonstrated functions will be included at launch.
