Jaguar has finally revealed the production car behind its controversial reinvention, unveiling the Type 01 as a 1,000-plus-horsepower electric grand tourer that will kick off the brand’s new EV-only era.
Unveiled in New York, the four-door Type 01 stays remarkably close to the controversial Type 00 concept Jaguar showed in late 2024. It retains the long hood, low roofline and imposing proportions, including available 23-inch wheels and the unusual absence of a traditional rear window.

Underneath, the Type 01 rides on Jaguar’s new dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), pairing a 118kWh battery with an 850-volt electrical system. Its tri-motor setup produces up to 1,016 horsepower and 1,007 lb-ft of torque, enough to reach 100km/h in 3.2 seconds.
Jaguar estimates up to 400 miles (644km) of EPA range, while sustained driving at 120km/h is expected to return about 320 miles (515km). With a compatible 350kW DC fast charger, Jaguar says the Type 01 can add 200 miles (321km) of range in as little as 13 minutes.
It is also the most aerodynamic production Jaguar yet, with a drag coefficient of 0.23 despite its massive proportions.

The Type 01 represents a major gamble for Jaguar. Rather than competing with traditional premium sedans from BMW and Mercedes-Benz, the company is moving significantly upmarket, targeting customers closer to Bentley territory.
That strategy became clear with the polarizing Type 00 concept and Jaguar’s equally controversial rebrand. The Type 01 now shows that wasn’t simply a marketing exercise – much of the concept’s design has survived into production.
Canadian pricing is expected to start at approximately $180,000, or $130,000 in the U.S. Orders open in early 2027, with production at JLR’s Solihull factory and first deliveries expected during the second half of the year.
