Honda confirms Prologue EV will be discontinued in Canada after 2026 model year

Honda has confirmed the Prologue is also coming to an end in Canada, with sales of the electric SUV set to conclude later this year following the completion of the 2026 model year.

You might recall that back in March we reported the Prologue was being discontinued in the United States following a collapse in sales. We speculated the decision would also impact Canada since both countries are supplied by the same factory in Mexico. At the time we reached out to Honda Canada to confirm, but the automaker responded to us saying sales will continue and they don’t speculate on the future of specific models.

However, things have apparently changed in the four months since then. On Friday Honda confirmed with Drive Tesla sales of the Prologue will also end in Canada soon.

“Honda will conclude sales of Prologue later this year following completion of the 2026 model year. Prologue customers will continue to receive full support through our dealer network, including service, parts, and warranty coverage.”

The Prologue was launched through Honda’s partnership with General Motors, using GM’s dedicated EV platform as a way to bring an electric SUV to market while Honda developed its own next-generation EVs.

Those plans have since changed dramatically. Honda recently cancelled several upcoming North American EV programs, including the Honda 0 Series SUV and Acura RSX, as it shifts its focus back toward hybrid and gasoline-powered vehicles. The company has cited slowing EV demand, the loss of North American purchase incentives, and increasing competition as key reasons for the change in strategy.

The Prologue got off to a strong start, with nearly 39,000 units sold in the U.S. in 2025. However, sales have fallen sharply. In the first two months of 2026 sales dropped roughly 75% compared with the same period last year.

Once remaining inventory is sold, Honda will no longer offer a battery electric vehicle in either Canada or the United States. Existing Prologue owners, however, will continue to receive full warranty coverage, service, and parts support through Honda’s dealer network.
