Just one week after launching its Canadian website, Geely has officially confirmed its plans to enter the Canadian market, with the Chinese automaker saying its first vehicles will arrive in 2027.

The announcement follows the launch of geely.ca earlier this month, which initially offered few details beyond confirming the company’s intentions to establish a Canadian dealer network. Now, Geely has provided a timeline and additional details about its expansion.

According to Geely Auto Group, the company has already started establishing local operations and developing a retail and service network across Canada. The automaker says it is working with experienced local partners to support customers both during and after their vehicle purchases.

“Canada represents an important next step in Geely Auto’s international growth,” said Bryan Wu, Managing Director of Geely Auto Canada. “We are entering this market with a long-term commitment, bringing our global technology and engineering capabilities to Canadian drivers while building strong local partnerships and the support customers need to feel confident in choosing Geely. We know that trust is earned over time, and we are committed to earning it here.”

Geely has not yet revealed which vehicles it plans to sell in Canada, nor has it announced pricing or dealership locations. Those details are expected to be shared as the company gets closer to its commercial launch next year.

The company has been preparing for its Canadian entry for several months. In April, Geely began recruiting senior executives in Toronto, followed by sightings of EX5 and EX2 test vehicles arriving at Toronto Pearson in May.

Geely is one of several Chinese automakers preparing to enter Canada following Ottawa’s decision to allow up to 49,000 Chinese-built EVs annually at a reduced 6.1% tariff. BYD and Chery’s Omoda and Jaecoo brands have also launched Canadian websites, although none have started selling passenger vehicles here under their new brands.
