Tesla has finally brought its latest Model 3 upgrades to Canada, just one week after introducing the changes in the U.S. The updates include a larger 16-inch center touchscreen, a black headliner, updated wheels, and a new interior option.
The changes are now reflected in Tesla’s Canadian configurator, bringing the Model 3 sold here in line with the updated versions recently introduced in other markets. However, not all trims received all the upgrades, and one of the most anticipated features is still missing.
Tesla also made some changes to the Model Y. You can read about those here.
Interior Changes
The biggest noticeable change is the addition of a black headliner, replacing the lighter material previously used in the cabin. The darker finish gives the Model 3 a more uniform interior appearance, similar to the changes Tesla introduced on the Model Y earlier this year.
Another change is the new 16-inch touchscreen, replacing the previous 15.4-inch display. We first reported on the larger display back in February, and soon after the larger screen was introduced on the refreshed Model Y before making its way to the Model 3 in China and other markets.

Both the black headliner and larger 16-inch touchscreen are now standard across all Model 3 trims in Canada. However, the other upgrades vary depending on which trim you choose.
Canadian buyers of the Model 3 Premium Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) can no longer select the white interior, which has been replaced with the new Zen Grey interior.

Buyers of the Model 3 Performance don’t get that option, and are still able to select from the standard black interior or the white interior. This is likely due to the fact the Performance variant is sourced from Fremont, and not Giga Shanghai, like the two other Premium variants.
Other Changes
Another change only available on the Premium variants is an updated 19″ Dark Nova wheel, replacing the lighter silver finish. This is still a $2,000 option over the standard 18″ Photon wheels.

Addtionally, the Model 3 Premium AWD received an acceleration boost, with the 0-100 km/h time dropping from 4.4 seconds to 4.0 seconds.
That brings us to what is likely the most anticipated upgrade. Earlier this week Tesla announced Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Powershare Home Backup for all Model 3 variants in the U.S. Sadly, these features are not yet available to Canadian buyers on any Model 3 trim.
There have been no changes to Model 3 pricing with these upgrades.
What if I already have an order?
If you already have an order for a Model 3 and have not yet received your vehicle yet, don’t worry, you will be getting all of these upgrades. Tesla has already started sending out emails to customers notifying them of the changes.
