Tesla Model Y Premium AWD gets Zen Grey interior and V2L in Canada

Tesla has rolled out another update to its Canadian vehicle lineup, this time bringing two new features to the Model Y. Buyers can now get the new Zen Grey interior, along with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability that allows the electric SUV to power external devices.

Unlike the upgrades to the Model 3 that also happened on Thursday night, which introduced changes across the entire lineup, these latest Model Y additions are limited to the Premium AWD variant.

The most noticeable change is the new Zen Grey interior, replacing the iconic white interior. The lighter grey finish offers a different look for the Model Y, particularly when paired with the black headliner that Tesla introduced as part of the refreshed interior earlier this year.

Zen Grey first appeared on Tesla vehicles in China before expanding to other markets. Tesla also made this change to the Model 3 in Canada on Thursday night, and it has also made its way to the Canadian Model Y Premium AWD.

The other addition is Vehicle-to-Load (V2), a feature that allows owners to use their vehicle’s battery to power external electronics and appliances.

According to Tesla’s Canadian specifications, the Model Y Premium AWD now supports Vehicle to Load (120V 20A AC) through the vehicle’s charge port using the Outlet Adapter.

That works out to a maximum theoretical output of 2.4 kW, enough to power a variety of smaller devices, camping equipment or other electrical accessories, provided the total load stays within the system’s limits.

Interestingly, both the Model Y Premium AWD and the Model Y Performance are now listed as having V2L. We have previously reported on the misleading information Tesla has previously provided for the Model Y Performance and its V2L capabilities. Initially the Outlet Adapter was available to purchase, and many owners did buy it under the impression the Model Y Performance was compatible, as advertised. It turned out not to the be the case, and Tesla quietly removed compatibility from the Tesla Shop listing.

Now it appears directly on Tesla’s website as having V2L, although its unclear if Model Y Performance vehicles already delivered will be able to receive the feature via an over-the-air (OTA) software update.

However, Tesla’s Shop listing for the Outlet Adapter in Canada still lists only the Cybertruck as compatible. Additionally, the Outlet Adapter is not available directly on the Canadian configurator, like it is in the U.S.
