Tesla CEO Elon Musk has indicated that beach access is coming to Robotaxi in Miami and Tampa, following the recent launch of the service in Tampa and Orlando.

According to an exchange on X between Musk and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Tesla could soon expand its Robotaxi service areas to include beaches currently outside the boundaries shown on its original launch maps.

The exchange began Monday evening when DeSantis responded to a post comparing the sizes of Tesla’s Robotaxi service areas across several cities.

“They need to have the Tampa and Miami ones include the beaches!” DeSantis wrote. Musk responded on Tuesday with just two words: “Coming soon.”

While Musk’s response suggests Tesla is preparing to expand coverage in both Florida cities, he did not provide a timeline or specify which beaches would be included.

Tesla launched its unsupervised Robotaxi service in Miami on July 3, 2026, marking another expansion of the company’s autonomous ride-hailing operations.

However, the initial Miami service map showed coverage concentrated in western Miami-Dade County, including areas around Doral, West Miami and the edge of Coral Gables.

Those boundaries placed the service inland, leaving the coastal beaches outside the area shown at launch.

Tesla followed up on July 21 by launching Robotaxi in Tampa and Orlando, bringing the number of Florida cities with the service to three.

The original Tampa map included West Tampa, Tampa Heights and neighbourhoods further north, but did not extend to the Gulf coast beaches.

Meanwhile, Tesla is also preparing to bring Robotaxi to additional markets. Last week, the company’s official Robotaxi account identified Jacksonville, Florida, alongside Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Antonio as upcoming cities, without announcing launch dates.
