Tesla reverses changes to Canadian Model 3 RWD specs (again) that hinted at return of U.S. built vehicles

Tesla has reversed the Model 3 Premium Rear-Wheel Drive specification changes that appeared on its Canadian website Monday, restoring the previous range and acceleration figures by Tuesday morning.

According to a review of Tesla Canada’s official website this morning by Drive Tesla, the Model 3 Premium is once again listed with up to 463 km of range. The Premium Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) has also returned to a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.2 seconds.

The figures replace the 584 km range and 5.2 second acceleration time that appeared Monday, prompting speculation about a possible change in the vehicle’s sourcing.

Interestingly, the vehicle’s listed curb weight reportedly remained unchanged at 1,745 kg throughout both updates, despite the differences in range and acceleration.

The temporary 584 km figure matched the Fremont-built Model 3 Long Range RWD that Tesla began selling in Canada in October 2024. It also matched the 363 mile (584 km) range currently advertised for the Model 3 Premium RWD in the United States.

This suggested Tesla might be preparing to source the Model 3 Premium RWD from the U.S. after the Canadian government capped Tesla’s ability to import vehicles from China.

However, with the change back to the original Chinese specs, this could have been yet another case of incorrect specs being published to the Canadian website, something which has happened numerous times this year.

Earlier this month Tesla posted a banner stating that Model 3 Premium orders had been paused after high demand exhausted the company’s import quota. The banner said ordering could resume if the Canadian government issued additional quota, expected in March 2027.
