Tesla has brought back one of the people who helped build its Canadian charging network, this time to oversee the arrival of the Tesla Semi in Canada.

Daniel Valadares joined Tesla in September as its Semi Programs – Business Development Lead for Canada. In the role, Valadares says he will be responsible for bringing the Semi program to the Canadian market.

“I’m thrilled to be back at Tesla, leading the Semi Program for Canada 🇨🇦 in my new role as the Canadian business development manager,” Valadares said on LinkedIn. (h/t: @TheEVuniverse)

Valadares has a long history with Tesla Canada. He first joined the company in May 2016 as an Owner Advisor in Toronto, just as the Model X was launching in the country. After moving to Tesla’s charging team in 2017, he worked on Destination Charging and Supercharger expansion in Eastern Canada before taking on increasingly senior roles.

From 2020 until leaving Tesla in June 2024, Valadares served as Senior Technical Program Manager for Charging Infrastructure in Canada. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was responsible for more than 45 large-scale Supercharger projects, accounting for roughly 1,000 Supercharger stalls across Canada.

Valadares then spent just over two years at fleet electrification company 7Gen, most recently serving as Senior Director of Fleet Technologies & AI Enablement. His work there included commercial fleet charging projects from feasibility and design through installation and energization.

His return to Tesla comes as the Semi program enters its next phase. Valadares was at Tesla’s new Semi factory in Nevada for its rollout event last week, calling the event “proof” of the work that went into bringing the truck to volume production.

Canada is also starting to see the charging infrastructure needed to support the Semi. Tesla’s first Canadian Megachargers will start construction this month. R.R. Plett Trucking is preparing to install the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) at their locations in Langley and Kamloops. The company has ordered 12 Tesla Semis, with deliveries expected by June 2027.
