Tesla’s sales recovery in Europe continued in September, with registrations climbing sharply in several key markets as demand for electric vehicles across the region continues to grow.
New Tesla registrations jumped 61.9% year-over-year in France last month, according to data from French automotive group PFA. Tesla also recorded a 38.4% increase in Sweden, while registrations edged up 2.2% in Norway.
The result in France was particularly strong. The country recorded 156,629 new passenger vehicle registrations in September, an increase of 11.6% from last year. Tesla’s nearly 62% gain therefore significantly outpaced the overall market.
September’s numbers build on what has already been a much stronger year for Tesla in Europe.
According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), Tesla registered 191,787 vehicles across the European Union, EFTA and United Kingdom between January and August. That was up 43.3% from 133,853 during the same period in 2025.
Tesla is also slightly outpacing the rapidly expanding EV market. Battery-electric registrations across those countries increased 38.8% through August, reaching more than 2.13 million vehicles.
Europe has become one of the brighter spots for Tesla this year after two consecutive years of declining sales in the region. The broader EV market has also accelerated, with battery-electric vehicles accounting for 21.7% of all new registrations in the EU through August, compared with 15.8% a year earlier.
There are still two important pieces of the September picture missing. Registration figures from Germany and the United Kingdom, Europe’s two largest car markets, are expected later this week.
The European numbers also arrive just before Tesla releases its global Q3 production and delivery report on Friday. Analyst estimates vary widely, ranging from roughly 422,000 to 482,000 deliveries. Tesla delivered a record 497,099 vehicles during Q3 2025 and 480,126 vehicles in the previous quarter.
