Work begins on Tesla Supercharger in Bracebridge [Ontario]

A new Tesla Supercharger is coming soon to the Bracebridge SmartCentre in Bracebridge, Ontario.

The Bracebridge Supercharger will be located just off Hwy 11 at 40 Depot Drive in the parking lot in front of the Dollar Tree and Bulk Barn between Home Depot and Walmart. Construction hasn’t officially started but the area outlined below has been fenced off in preparation for it to begin.

According to one of our readers who sent us the photo below, some electrical work will be completed by Lakeland Power Distribution this week to bring the necessary infrastructure to the site. We don’t yet know how many stalls this will be but based on the area that has been fenced off it will likely be at least 8-12 stalls.

When construction does finally begin it will be after a very long wait. Tesla first added Bracebridge as a potential Supercharger location all the way back in 2018. It will serve as a convenient stop for those travelling to and from the Muskoka Lakes region north of Toronto.

Even Tesla themselves seems to be surprised that construction is about to begin as they do not list a definitive date for when it will open, simply saying “in 2023” on their website. Hopefully it will open before the end of 2022.

There are currently five other Superchargers under construction or waiting to be turned on in Ontario in Gananoque, Toronto, Cobourg, Simcoe, and Port Severn. The most recent Supercharger to come online in Ontario was in Kemptville, which opened earlier this month just over two months after construction first began.
