Turo is launching a new rental experience featuring vehicles with Full Self-Driving (FSD), expanding its electric vehicle sharing offerings with verified FSD-equipped Teslas starting Wednesday.
According to a press release, the new feature allows travellers in the United States to search for and book Tesla vehicles with FSD (Supervised) activated.
Turo is using what it calls an industry-first direct application programming interface (API) integration with Tesla to verify whether a Tesla has FSD enabled.
For Tesla owners listing their vehicles on Turo, linking their Tesla account will automatically verify and display FSD availability. Eligible U.S. hosts will also receive a free one-month FSD (Supervised) trial.
Turo says thousands of FSD-enabled Teslas are already available through its marketplace. Guests are encouraged to review Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) documentation before getting behind the wheel.
The launch comes as interest in autonomous driving technology continues to grow. Turo CEO Andre Haddad cited company research showing 55% of Americans are interested in driverless technology for travel, increasing to 71% among Generation Z.
Turo’s 2026 Road Report also found that more than one in five interested Americans would be comfortable spending seven hours or longer in a self-driving vehicle.
Tesla vehicles are already popular on the platform, with the Model 3 and Model Y ranking as Turo’s third and fourth most popular vehicle models year to date.
Although Turo operates in Canada and many other countries, the verified FSD rental experience is launching exclusively in the United States. Neither Turo nor Tesla has announced Canadian availability.
