Tesla has reported its Q3 2026 production and delivery results, beating expectations as deliveries increased from the previous quarter. Energy storage deployments also increased, but came in slightly lower than expectations.
According to figures released on Friday, Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles globally in Q3 2026, above the 461,974 deliveries analysts had expected according to Tesla’s own company-compiled consensus. The result was a beat of 24,558 vehicles, or 5%.
Deliveries increased by 6,406 vehicles, or 1%, from the 480,126 vehicles delivered in Q2 2026. However, they were down 2% from the 497,099 in Q3 2025, which itself was an all-time quarterly record.
Unsurprisingly, Model 3/Y accounted for 478,237 deliveries, while Tesla reported 8,295 deliveries under “Other Models.” That category includes Model S, Model X, Cybertruck and Semi, although Tesla does not provide a breakdown between those vehicles. Tesla does not report Canadian deliveries separately.
Production reached 464,391 vehicles, consisting of 457,387 Model 3/Y vehicles and 7,004 other models. Deliveries exceeded production by 22,141 vehicles during the quarter, implying Tesla drew down inventory by about 22,000 vehicles.
Deliveries beat consensus but trail previous quarter
The 486,532 deliveries represented a 1% increase from Q2 2026 but a 2% decline compared with Q3 2025. Model 3/Y deliveries increased 2% quarter over quarter to 478,237 but were 1% lower year over year.
Other-model deliveries moved in the opposite direction, falling 33% from 12,364 in Q2 2026 and 48% from 15,933 a year earlier. This is likely due to the discontinuation of Model S/S, which surprisingly didn’t have a large impact on production – total production increased 3% from Q2 2026 and 4% from Q3 2025.
Energy storage misses expectations
Tesla deployed 13.7 GWh of energy storage products during Q3 2026, 2.2 GWh, or 14%, below the company-compiled consensus of 15.9 GWh.
Deployments were up 0.2 GWh, or 1%, from 13.5 GWh in Q2 2026 and increased 1.2 GWh, or 10%, from 12.5 GWh in Q3 2025. The quarterly total was also 0.5 GWh, or 4%, below the all-time quarterly storage record of 14.2 GWh set in Q4 2025.
Earnings date
Tesla will post its financial results for the third quarter of 2026 after market close on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Tesla management will hold their live Q&A session that day at 4:30 p.m. CT (5:30 p.m. ET).
