Tesla plans new Supercharger in Port Hawkesbury [Nova Scotia]

Tesla’s Supercharger network in Atlantic Canada is set to expand again, with a new location planned for Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia.

According to information shared by Supercharger tracker MarcoRP on X, Tesla has entered into a lease agreement with the Town of Port Hawkesbury to install an eight-stall Supercharger at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre. An aerial image of the proposed layout shows the charging stalls located in a section of the Civic Centre parking lot along Pitt Street.

The location sits roughly 5 kilometres off the Trans-Canada Highway via Highway 4, making it a relatively short detour for drivers heading east toward Cape Breton Island or west toward mainland Nova Scotia.

The addition will fill a notable gap in Tesla’s charging network. While drivers currently have access to stations in places like New Minas, Enfield, and DIgby, Port Hawkesbury serves as the gateway to Cape Breton and is a natural location for a Supercharger. It should also provide more flexibility for local residents and tourists exploring the Cabot Trail and other destinations across the island.

Tesla is also planning other Superchargers in nearby Aulds Cove, as well as Sydney. Tesla also just started construction on the first Supercharger in Halifax.

As with all new Supercharger projects, signing a lease is only one step in the process. Construction timelines can vary depending on permits, utility work, and equipment availability. In Nova Scotia, utility connections have occasionally caused lengthy delays, something local owners are hoping to avoid with this project.
