Tesla is expanding its lineup of lifestyle accessories once again, this time with a new option aimed squarely at solo adventurers. After the strong reception of its full-size Model Y air mattress, the company has introduced a single-person version—currently available in China, but likely headed to North America based on past product rollouts.
The original mattress, launched in mid-2024, was designed to fill the entire rear cabin of the Model Y with the seats folded flat, offering a comfortable sleeping solution for two people. It featured a 3-inch high-density foam design, waterproof materials, and came bundled with a pump and storage bag.
Like many Tesla Shop releases, it sold out quickly, highlighting strong demand for car camping accessories among Tesla owners.
Now, Tesla is taking a more targeted approach with its new single inflatable mattress, offering a more compact and arguably more practical alternative for solo users.
Smaller footprint, smarter design
Unlike the full-size version, the new single mattress is designed to occupy only one side of the rear cabin. This means owners can fold down just part of the rear seat and still maintain a significant amount of usable cargo space—something that could make a big difference for road trips or overnight camping.
Tesla’s product description emphasizes ease of use and convenience, noting that the setup allows drivers to “easily activate ‘Comfort Mode’ even for single occupants.” The reduced size also makes installation simpler and faster compared to the larger mattress, while leaving room for gear, luggage, or even a cooler alongside the sleeping area.
The full-width mattress, pictured above on the right, can feel excessive for one person, often sacrificing valuable storage space. The single mattress on the left strikes a balance, offering comfort without compromising practicality.
Specs and pricing
The mattress measures 193 x 76 x 8 cm (roughly 76 x 30 x 3 inches), making it slightly thicker than the original version at up to 8 cm of high-density foam filling. It uses a TPU elastic fabric surface paired with PU foam for durability and comfort.
It also includes an air pump and adapter, storage bag, and fast inflation (20 seconds) and deflation (70 seconds). The mattress can be conveniently stored in the Model Y’s lower trunk compartment when not in use.
In China, the single mattress is priced at 659 RMB, which converts to approximately C$131 or US$97—significantly cheaper than the original full-size version.
Coming soon to North America?
While Tesla has not announced availability outside of China, many accessories, including the original Model Y mattress, have eventually made their way to Canada and the United States. Given the lower price point and added versatility, the single mattress could prove just as popular, if not more so.

Does the Model Y air mattress fit the Model 3?
From our own testing when the original Model Y air mattress was released, it proved to be more versatile than expected. While designed for the Model Y, it can actually fit inside a Model 3 with the seats folded down. The fit isn’t perfect, but it is usable for a night’s rest. The biggest drawback we found was with inflation and deflation—since the Model 3’s 12V outlet is located in the center console, the included pump cable isn’t long enough to comfortably reach the rear of the cabin.
It’s a small inconvenience, but one worth noting for anyone considering cross-compatibility.
In case you were wondering, the Model Y air mattress does fit in the Model 3. It is not a perfect fit, but it works.
