Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) rollout in Europe is off to a fast start, with early data from the Netherlands revealing just how quickly drivers are embracing the technology.
Less than a month after receiving regulatory approval on April 10, Tesla owners in the country have already logged an impressive 10 million kilometres using FSD Supervised. That works out to roughly 430,000 kilometres driven every single day—an early indication that drivers are not just trying the system, but actively relying on it.
In a post on X, Tesla highlighted the milestone, saying, “Tesla owners in the Netherlands have driven 10 million km on FSD Supervised in under a month! Thank you for making Dutch roads safer”. While comprehensive safety data has yet to be released, there have been no widely reported incidents tied to FSD use in the country during its initial rollout.

What makes that figure even more notable is the relatively small pool of vehicles contributing to it. According to official data, there are approximately 44,000 Tesla vehicles in the Netherlands. While there is no official figure for how many have purchased FSD, it is estimated at 10–20% of owners, likely towards the lower end of that range.
Based on those figures, that means roughly 4,400 to 8,800 vehicles are responsible for the 10 million km driven so far—translating to an average of about 1,100 to 2,300 km per car in under a month. That level of usage suggests owners aren’t just testing the system, but integrating FSD into their daily driving routines.
The approval came through the Dutch vehicle authority, RDW, which has been working closely with Tesla on testing and validation. That collaboration is widely seen as a potential blueprint for other European regulators. Because vehicle approvals in one EU country can often influence or accelerate decisions elsewhere, the Netherlands’ green light could have ripple effects across the region.
In Italy, political pressure is mounting to fast-track Tesla’s FSD approval. Senator Carlo Calenda recently submitted a formal parliamentary question urging the country’s Ministry of Transportation to prioritize the evaluation of Tesla’s system. The request specifically calls for closer coordination with Dutch authorities, highlighting how the Netherlands’ approval could serve as a reference point for other nations.
