Tesla has added a new accessory to its online shop with the launch of a Dual Zone Fridge designed specifically for the Model Y.
Unlike portable coolers that can take up valuable cargo space, Tesla’s latest accessory is designed to sit inside the Model Y’s sub-trunk, allowing owners to maintain the vehicle’s full cargo area while adding 35 litres of refrigerated storage.
According to the Tesla shop listing, the new accessory features two independently controlled compartments, allowing drivers to run one side as a refrigerator while using the other as a freezer or warmer storage area. Temperatures are displayed on the unit and can be adjusted anywhere between 0°F and 68°F (-18°C to 20°C).
Tesla says owners simply need to plug the fridge into the Model Y’s rear power outlet and “all your snacks and beverages will stay at just the right temperature.”
The unit measures 26.6 inches long, 16.9 inches wide, and 14.2 inches tall (67.5 cm x 43 cm x 36.1 cm), almost perfectly matching the dimensions of the Model Y’s underfloor storage compartment. At 32.6 pounds (14.8 kg), it is substantial enough to feel permanent without becoming difficult to remove when additional storage space is needed.
Tesla lists the fridge as compatible with all Model Y variants, meaning owners of both older vehicles and the refreshed Juniper models can purchase it.
The Model Y Dual Zone Fridge is available now through Tesla’s online store for $825 in Canada and $595 in the United States.
