Tesla Model 3 has record quarter in the UK

Recently Tesla announced their Q3 delivery and production numbers, and they broke the record for most deliveries, set in just the previous quarter. Now registration data for September has been released for the UK, and they had a big hand in helping set the new record for Q3.

In September alone, Tesla delivered a total of 3,459 units, of which 2,864 were Model 3 vehicles. This is a big increase from the 2,000 delivered in August just the month before. With the big push to get as many deliveries as possible before the end of Q3, the EV market share in the UK increased to 2.2% of all vehicles. During the same period in the UK, gas vehicle sales increased by 4.5%, while diesel car sales dropped by a whopping 20%.

To provide some perspective on the numbers, Tesla delivered more vehicles in the UK in Q3 than it did throughout the whole of 2018. The Tesla Model 3 starts at £42,500, not inlcuding the £3,500 electric car grant available to qualified purchasers.
