Tesla increases non-refundable order deposit in Canada and US

While Tesla fans were busy watching AI Day Thursday evening, the automaker quietly made a change to their website.

Until today customers placing an order were required to pay a $100 non-refundable order deposit. Now Tesla requires a $250 non-refundable deposit to secure your order.

The change impacts both Canadian and US buyers, and is the same amount in each country. When you take the exchange rate into account, Canadians are actually getting a better deal for once ($250 CAD = $195 USD).

DepositThis is the second change to the order deposit amount in Canada this year, and is still much cheaper than it was just a few months ago.

In April the automaker reduced the fee from a refundable $2,500 down to a non-refunable $100.
